We are seeking a compassionate and nurturing individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). The primary responsibility of the Direct Support Professional is to provide personalized care and support to clients in their homes or in healthcare facilities. The DSP's will assist clients with daily activities, such as (but not limited to) bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist clients with mobility and transferring as needed
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary restrictions
- Administer medication and track medication schedules
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, dishes, and tidying up
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Follow care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals
- Report any changes in client's condition or behavior to the appropriate personnel
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, families, and fellow caregivers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow care plans accurately
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and transfer clients, up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods of time
